Tom's Maths Problem

Every time, Tom encounters maths in his daily life.
He hates maths as he doesn't know how to do it anyway.

We want him to think how he tackles the maths problem, try out different methods until one works, stare at the problem until the answer comes to him; describe what the problem goes through his head as he is trying to solve it.

His worst nightmare is endless math problems.
If he feels his main difficulty in maths is word problems, get an example book on how to solve word problems.
